Syensqo, a leading materials science company, has announced a strategic partnership with the Jean-Marie Lehn Foundation on October 23. This collaboration will bring together researchers from Syensqo, the University of Strasbourg, and the CNRS to work on three groundbreaking research projects focused on sustainable materials and renewable building blocks.

The partnership aims to develop innovative solutions that address pressing environmental challenges, such as reducing reliance on fossil fuels and mitigating carbon emissions. By combining their expertise, the partners seek to create materials with exceptional performance while minimizing their environmental impact.

“I am delighted to see the Syensqo teams collaborating with the University of Strasbourg’s talent pool, which includes more than 1000 researchers representing 50 nationalities and 4 Nobel Prize winners," said Ilham Kadri, CEO of Syensqo. "This collaboration will allow us to leverage the talent and resources of these renowned institutions to drive advancements in sustainable materials science."

Bernard Meunier, President of the Jean-Marie Lehn Foundation, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership and said, "Working with Syensqo on these research projects provides us with a unique opportunity to push the boundaries of materials science and develop innovative solutions for a more sustainable future."

This partnership builds upon a successful history of collaboration between the University of Strasbourg and industry. A previous project with Solvay led to the development of an ultra-sensitive graphene-based voltage sensor, which has promising applications in connected healthcare.

The three research projects undertaken by Syensqo, the Jean-Marie Lehn Foundation, and the University of Strasbourg will focus on:

Designing sustainable and ecological materials: Exploring new materials that minimize environmental impact and offer superior performance.

Synthesizing renewable and polyfunctional building blocks: Developing sustainable alternatives to traditional chemical building blocks.

By working together, these partners hope to make significant contributions to the development of a more sustainable and resilient materials industry.
