Europe: The European Commission has announced that Denmark will receive a staggering €170 million (DKr1.25 billion) to help enable the production of renewable Hydrogen through Power-to-X (PtX) technologies. This is big news for Denmark, and an indication of the EC’s commitment to renewable energy sources.
The government recently announced a major funding program to support technological advancements in renewable Hydrogen production and its derivatives. This includes scaling up of production of Ammonia, Methanol, and e-Kerosene through PtX technologies.
PtX Technologies is now providing solutions to produce renewable Hydrogen using electricity derived directly from renewable sources. Electrolysers are being utilized to achieve this, making PtX a leader in the field of clean energy production.
The government has announced a new scheme that will provide funding for electrolysis capacity between 100MW and 200MW. This grant will last for 10 years and be awarded via a competitive bidding process that must be completed by the end of 2023.
Europe is taking a stand against Russian fossil fuels after the military invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Financing for renewable Hydrogen projects has seen a steep rise as part of the European Union's REPowerEU Plan, which includes ceasing all imports by 2027.
According to the country's recently released Hydrogen strategy, Denmark plans to build between 4-6 gigawatts of electrolysis capacity by 2030. This project will be powered primarily by offshore wind resources, marking a major milestone for renewable energy development in Denmark and beyond.
