Streptomycin Sulphate prices have been rising on the loop in both developing and emerging markets such as China and Germany as a result of rising demand from end-user pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. After the reduction in inflationary and recessionary pressure, consumer confidence has increased globally, which is somewhere improving purchasing performance particulary in the pharmaceutical department.
In China, the price of Streptomycin Sulphate kept on increasing over the course of February due to the strong market dynamics that persisted throughout the month. High buying interest from the end-user manufacturers on the back of the increasing demand and falling supply was the key factors that supported this upward price trajectory of Streptomycin Sulphate in the Chinese domestic market. Operating rates at local manufacturing facilities have also surged due to the increase in consumption of this product. The National Bureau of Statistics reported that in February 2023, China's Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) increased from 50.1 to 52.6, indicating that the country's manufacturing activity rose to its maximum level in more than 10 years. Despite enhanced production and operation activities, the supply of Streptomycin Sulphate remained curtailed due to an increase in new orders from both local and offshore markets. The better trading activities with overseas countries were a result of ease in supply-chain disrtuptions and logistical issues. Therefore, FOB Shanghai prices of Streptomycin Sulphate in China soared about 3.1% in February.
Similarly, the Streptomycin Sulphate prices in Germany followed the upward trend in February because German retailers were receiving expensive import rates from China. Additionally, the demand remained high as orders from end-user sectors increased for Streptomycin Sulphate, leading to continuous stock consumption. As per the data released, the German Consumer Price Index (CPI) soared from 114.30 to 115.20 points in February 2023. German consumer prices rose more than anticipated in February because of reduced inflation and lower energy prices, which progressively boosted consumer confidence. Also, the market began to display signs of optimism as a result of an improvement in the flow of commerce from China to Europe in comparison to the previous month, which also encouraged consumer demand. As a result, a hike of around 1.4% in Germany was observed in the pricing dynamics of Streptomycin Sulphate.
According to ChemAnalyst, the market players of Streptomycin Sulphate likely to witness a wait and see approach as it will still take months to get a rebound hold of market situation back to pre pandemic levels.
