A European biogas company, Heygaz Biomethane (founded by InfraVia Capital Partners), has signed a deal to acquire Ormonde Organics, a leading producer of biogas and biomethane in Ireland. The acquisition of Heygaz enhances its strategic vision to solidify a robust European portfolio of biomethane production facilities, strategically positioning itself in burgeoning markets with significant growth potential. By expanding its footprint in key regions, Heygaz aims to capitalize on the increasing demand for sustainable energy solutions, further strengthening its position as a leader in the biomethane industry while contributing to the transition towards a greener future.

Subject to regulatory approval in Ireland, the Ormonde Organics leadership team will seamlessly integrate into Heygaz's executive structure, retaining an ownership stake and continuing to spearhead the company's operations.

Ormonde Organics is a major player in Ireland's renewable energy sector, operating two biogas plants with a total annual capacity of 60 GWh. They're expanding their footprint with a third facility on the way, expected to be operational by the end of 2025.

Currently, the majority of biogas produced at these plants is converted into renewable electricity, with a portion being processed into biomethane and sold as bio-CNG (compressed natural gas). Ormonde Organics is collaborating with Gas Network Ireland (GNI) to develop a facility that will inject biomethane directly into Ireland's national gas grid from the Portlaw plant, enabling its integration into the EU gas market. This initiative aims to increase biomethane production, promote its industrial and transport applications, support decarbonization, and enhance supply security.

Leveraging Ormonde’s extensive expertise across the renewable gas value chain, Heygaz plans to further the development of new projects in Ireland. The company aims to build and consolidate a robust European portfolio of biomethane production plants, focusing on both new developments and existing production assets in promising markets.

Fernando Sarasola, President of Heygaz, enthusiastically announced the acquisition of Ormonde Organics, lauding their state-of-the-art facilities and strategic foothold in the market. He anticipates a seamless integration, marking a fresh chapter for both entities.  Extending a warm welcome to Martin Morrissey and Michael Murphy as valued partners, Sarasola acknowledged their critical contributions and expressed appreciation for their continued shareholder participation. This acquisition strategically aligns with Heygaz's long-term vision, particularly within the burgeoning Irish biomethane sector. By merging the expertise, resources, and synergies of both companies, Heygaz is poised to capitalize on new growth prospects, spearhead innovation, and solidify a dominant role within the renewable energy landscape.

In a statement following the acquisition by Heygaz, Martin Morrissey, CEO of Ormonde Organics, expressed optimism about the venture's ability to maximize Ormonde's potential and contribute meaningfully to Ireland's green economic development. This implies that prior to the acquisition, Ormonde Organics may have faced limitations in achieving their full environmental impact, and Heygaz provides the resources and reach to overcome those limitations.
