West Virginia [US]: Canonsburg, PA's CNX Resources Corp. has recently revealed that it will be collaborating with Adams Fork Energy and other partners in constructing a state-of-the-art clean Ammonia production facility in Mingo County, WV. The facility is expected to have the capacity to initially produce 2.16 metric tons of Ammonia and optional additional production capacity.

CNX is well-known for its commitment to the environment and is regarded as one of the most environmentally conscious natural gas producers in the United States. It will be a key contributor in supplying fuel and carbon sequestration services to the facility, which is being led by Adams Fork Energy and the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe. The construction is slated to commence in 2024 and is set to cost millions of dollars.

A reclaimed coal mining site is set to be replaced by a project that will boost the area's economy. The clean Ammonia facility is expected to be the largest of its kind in the United States and is projected to support 2,000 new construction jobs. Additionally, the facility is estimated to generate significant tax revenues and capital investment for the region.

This project will serve as a key component of the Appalachian Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub's (ARCH2) application to the US Department of Energy. ARCH2 is a regional collaboration that leverages Northern Appalachian states' natural gas, workforce, and technological proficiency to create an eco-friendly Hydrogen hub with a remarkable potential for carbon sequestration.

Ammonia is considered as an effective Hydrogen carrier that generates no carbon emissions upon combustion. Although it is widely recognized as a fertilizer in agriculture, it boasts versatility in various other sectors including heating and power generation, refrigeration, water purification, and manufacturing.
