Biokraft, a leader in Nordic biogas production, has secured a prime location within Perstorp's industrial park in Sweden. This exclusive land agreement paves the way for the construction of a state-of-the-art biogas facility. This strategic partnership underscores Biokraft's commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions while leveraging Perstorp's industrial expertise and infrastructure. The planned biogas plant is projected to boast a production capacity of 130 GWh of biomethane and 17,000 tonnes of liquid CO2 annually, with an ambitious completion target set for 2027. Biokraft's long-term vision extends beyond this project, aiming to significantly expand its existing production capacity from 585 GWh to an impressive 3 TWh by the year 2030, signaling a robust commitment to scaling up renewable energy generation.

Furthermore, the project will explore avenues to integrate the biogas plant into the existing gas grid infrastructure, facilitating distribution across western Sweden and northern Europe. By harnessing approximately 300,000 tonnes of substrate annually, predominantly sourced from agricultural and food industry residues, the facility will not only produce renewable energy but also generate an equivalent volume of processed biofertilizer. This dual output supports sustainable agricultural practices and underscores the plant's pivotal role in driving the transition towards eco-friendly alternatives. Following constructive dialogues with stakeholders, including local residents, municipal authorities, and Perstorp, the decision to relocate the plant to Perstorp's industrial park reflects a collective commitment to sustainable development and collaborative efforts towards achieving environmental goals.

Michael Wallis Olausson, VP Growth at Biokraft, expressed satisfaction with the progress towards their long-term objectives, emphasizing their role in advancing the green transition within the industry sector. He highlighted Perstorp's pioneering stance in advocating for biogas within the Swedish industrial landscape, portraying pride in Biokraft's involvement in advancing this project. Olausson's remarks underscore Biokraft's commitment to sustainability and collaboration with Perstorp to drive meaningful progress in renewable energy production.

Michael Cronqvist, Site Manager at Perstorp, echoed Olausson's sentiments, emphasizing the significance of biogas in Perstorp's strategy to transition towards renewable and recycled raw materials. Cronqvist emphasized the pivotal role of increased biogas production in meeting the industry's demands, citing a need for a fivefold increase in biogas production in Sweden. He portrayed optimism regarding the project's contribution towards this objective, highlighting its importance as a step towards fulfilling industry needs while advancing environmental sustainability goals. Cronqvist's comments underscore Perstorp's commitment to sustainability and collaboration with Biokraft to drive innovation and progress in the renewable energy sector.
