Arkema continues its move toward a sustainable industrial model. The company signed a new eight-year contract with Engie. This agreement involves the supply of biomethane to several bostik sites in France.
The contract covers 25 GWh per year. It will meet about 85% of the annual gas use. This is for four bostik sites in France. The sites are Coubert, Privas, Ribécourt, and Venette. This marks a notable step. It advances the decarbonization of the company’s energy supply.
This latest agreement aligns with a long-term contract. Arkema signed that contract with Engie in early 2023. That agreement involved the supply of 300 GWh per year of biomethane in France.
Vincent Legros is Executive Vice President of Arkema’s Adhesive Solutions segment (bostik). He stated this contract marks a strategic step. It advances their energy transition. It shows their commitment. They will take concrete action. This will reduce their carbon footprint. It will also support their customers. They are on their own decarbonization journey.
Edouard Chevalier is Managing Director of Risk Management and Origination at Engie. He announced this second Biomethane Purchase Agreement (BPA). It confirms the first agreement between Arkema and Engie. Engie is a major player in biomethane in France. Engie is pleased to support Arkema. This support involves the decarbonization of its operations. This new long-term commitment enables this support.
Arkema shows a commitment to renewable energy. This agreement ensures a significant portion of bostik’s gas needs. The biomethane will lower the carbon impact of these sites. This aligns with broader sustainability goals. Both Arkema and Engie emphasize the importance of such partnerships. They are key to achieving a greener future. This deal demonstrates a concrete action. It supports the transition to cleaner energy sources in the industrial sector. The long-term nature of the contract provides stability. It also encourages further investment in biomethane infrastructure. This move by Arkema serves as an example. Other industrial players may follow suit. They can reduce their environmental footprint. They can embrace sustainable energy solutions. The collaboration between Arkema and Engie highlights the role of energy providers. They can support the decarbonization efforts of industrial consumers. Biomethane offers a viable alternative to traditional natural gas. It contributes to a circular economy. It uses organic waste to produce energy. This agreement represents a positive step. It is toward a more sustainable future for industrial operations in France.
