Amogy, a leader in advanced ammonia-to-power technologies, has formed a strategic partnership with HD Hyundai Infracore Co. (HDI) and SK Innovation Co. (SKI) to develop an innovative distributed power generation system that integrates their technologies. This collaboration aims to create a system that combines HDI’s HX22 engine, a 100% hydrogen engine, with Amogy’s cutting-edge ammonia cracking technology. This technology utilizes advanced catalyst materials to efficiently convert ammonia into hydrogen at lower reaction temperatures while ensuring high durability.

The integration of Amogy's ammonia cracking technology with HDI's engine represents a significant step toward providing a cost-effective solution for ammonia-to-power applications. This new system is specifically designed to enhance the decarbonization efforts within the South Korean power market by leveraging the advantages of ammonia as a hydrogen carrier. The partnership not only seeks to advance technological innovation but also to explore the long-term commercial viability and potential applications of this combined power generation system.

This initiative aligns perfectly with the South Korean government's objectives to foster clean hydrogen and ammonia-based power generation, as outlined in the Clean Hydrogen Portfolio Standard (CHPS) that was introduced this year. By focusing on sustainable energy solutions, the partnership aims to contribute significantly to the country’s clean energy transition.

Seonghoon Woo, CEO of Amogy, emphasized the potential of this collaboration by stating, “Together with HDI and SKI, we can set new standards in sustainable energy. This collaboration not only advances our mission to provide clean energy solutions but also supports South Korea’s ambitions for a cleaner, greener future.” He expressed enthusiasm about the partnership's potential to transform their innovative vision into reality.

The integration of these technologies promises to enhance energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which is essential in addressing the growing concerns around climate change. By harnessing ammonia as a key component in the hydrogen supply chain, this partnership could lead to significant advancements in distributed power generation.

As the demand for cleaner energy sources continues to rise globally, the collaboration between Amogy, HDI, and SKI positions the trio at the forefront of the transition to sustainable energy. Their combined expertise and commitment to innovation will be crucial in developing a robust and economically viable ammonia-to-power solution that meets the energy needs of the future while supporting environmental sustainability efforts in South Korea and beyond. Through this strategic partnership, the companies are poised to make meaningful contributions to the clean energy landscape.

Amogy is at the forefront of providing carbon-free energy solutions aimed at decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors, such as maritime shipping and stationary power generation. Its patented ammonia cracking technology, proven in real-world applications, offers a mature, scalable, and highly efficient method for splitting liquid ammonia, enabling the generation of electrical power through hydrogen fuel cells. Complementing this innovation, HD Hyundai Infracore has evolved from producing Korea's first diesel engine in 1958 to becoming a leading global engine manufacturer, focusing on customer satisfaction and sustainability through electrification solutions and hydrogen engines. Meanwhile, SK Innovation, South Korea’s first and largest oil refining company established in 1962, is now transitioning to a 'Green Energy & Materials Company' with a strong emphasis on ESG values. Together, these companies are spearheading advancements in clean energy technologies, driving the transition towards a more sustainable future.
