Shell has chosen Wood to deliver pre-FEED (front-end engineering design) services for Oman’s innovative 'Blue Horizons' project. This project aims to produce low-carbon blue hydrogen and ammonia for both local and international markets, while also capturing and storing CO2 emissions from production. The development is set to be the first large-scale project of its kind in Oman, marking a significant milestone in the country's energy sector.
Wood will utilize its specialized expertise in CO2 and blue hydrogen to design an integrated production facility. This will encompass the production plant for blue hydrogen and ammonia, marine facilities with ammonia storage, a 200-kilometre pipeline, and a CO2 injection facility.
Giuseppe Zuccaro, President of Process & Chemicals at Wood, highlighted the importance of the project, stating: "The innovative Blue Horizons project will serve as a catalyst for Oman’s adoption of zero-carbon fuels. We are thrilled to collaborate with Shell on delivering this pre-FEED package, leveraging our local expertise and global knowledge to advance this exciting initiative."
To successfully deliver this contract, Wood will leverage its global teams across the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, India, and Oman.
