In a significant stride toward expanding natural gas utilization and bolstering Nigeria's gas revenue, Wison (Nantong) Heavy Industry, a subsidiary of Wison Offshore & Marine (WOM), and the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) have formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The focus of this collaboration is the construction of a floating LNG project in Nigeria, strategically aligned with aspirations to tap into the global LNG market.

NNPC Ltd., in its commitment to elevate natural gas utilization within the country and augment Nigeria's gas revenue, has concurrently inked two pivotal agreements. These agreements are designed to facilitate the delivery of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to both the domestic and international gas markets, signifying a multifaceted approach to maximizing the benefits of Nigeria's natural gas resources.

Furthermore, NNPC Prime LNG Ltd., a subsidiary of NNPC Trading, has entered into a noteworthy Supply, Installation, and Commissioning Agreement with SDP Services, an independent oil and gas company. This agreement is dedicated to a substantial LNG project, targeting a daily production capacity of 421 tonnes. The project's primary objective is to cater to the burgeoning demands of the domestic LNG market.

The Memorandum of Understanding for the floating LNG project was officially signed by Olalekan Ogunleye, Executive Vice President of Gas, Power & New Energy, representing NNPC Ltd., and Mr. Kai Xu, Managing Director of Wison, representing the subsidiary of WOM. This collaborative pact reflects the shared commitment of both entities to collaboratively chart a roadmap for the comprehensive development of the floating LNG project. The roadmap will encompass various aspects, leading to a crucial investment decision that holds the key to the project's fruition.

The strategic significance of this collaboration extends beyond national borders, as the envisioned floating LNG project aims to position Nigeria as a key player in the global LNG market. This aligns with Nigeria's broader economic objectives, capitalizing on the abundant natural gas resources prevalent in the region.

Simultaneously, NNPC Ltd.'s engagement with SDP Services signifies a concerted effort to tap into the burgeoning domestic LNG market. With a focus on a daily production capacity of 421 tonnes, this project is poised to meet the increasing demand for LNG within Nigeria. The collaboration underscores NNPC's commitment to not only harnessing the potential of natural gas for economic growth but also ensuring that its benefits are maximized both locally and on the international stage.

As the collaborative efforts between NNPC Ltd. and Wison (Nantong) Heavy Industry take shape, the floating LNG project holds the promise of bolstering Nigeria's standing in the global LNG market. This venture is not merely a testament to the strategic foresight of the involved entities but also a proactive response to the evolving landscape of the energy sector, emphasizing the pivotal role of LNG in the transition to a more sustainable and economically viable energy future.
