Volta Energy Solutions Hungary (VESH) has announced that it is pursuing The Copper Mark, a prestigious global certification designed to ensure responsible practices in the copper industry. The Copper Mark is the leading assurance framework that evaluates a company’s commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, covering the entire copper supply chain from mining to final product sales.

Established in 2019, The Copper Mark is recognized as the industry’s foremost standard for responsible sourcing and ethical practices. Companies seeking the certification undergo a rigorous evaluation that assesses their commitment to environmental protection, human rights, ethical management, and community coexistence. The certification process aims to hold copper producers and suppliers accountable for their actions, promoting transparency and responsible business practices across the industry.

Volta Energy Solutions Hungary is taking proactive steps to align with these strict ESG standards, as part of its ongoing efforts to meet international environmental and social responsibilities. The company operates plants in Hungary that produce battery copper foil, a key component in the growing electric vehicle (EV) market and aims to further strengthen its position as a sustainable supplier to global customers.

Kwak Keun-man, CEO of Volta Energy Solutions, explained, "Our pursuit of The Copper Mark is a critical part of our commitment to meeting the stringent ESG standards of the international community, especially in Europe and the United States. We aim to reinforce our ethical sourcing policies and grow sustainably with our customers for the long term."

The Copper Mark is endorsed by the London Metal Exchange (LME), the world's largest metal exchange, which recommends that copper industry players implement responsible sourcing policies. Companies certified with The Copper Mark are included in the LME's "Approved Brands" list, a mark of trust and credibility in the global metals market. As of August 2024, over 360 brands from more than 55 countries have achieved certification for copper, zinc, nickel, and other metals.

Volta Energy Solutions Hungary’s pursuit of The Copper Mark is in line with the company’s broader strategy to enhance the stability of its supply chain, ensuring that its products meet the growing demand for sustainability and responsible practices in the European market. By obtaining The Copper Mark, Volta expects to secure a stronger position as a reliable raw material supplier and build lasting business relationships with global partners who value ethical sourcing and sustainability.

In addition to its certification efforts, Volta Energy Solutions is actively engaged in a range of ESG activities. The company has implemented a supply chain management policy that ensures its products do not contain conflict minerals from areas of armed conflict. Volta is also committed to respecting human rights, coexisting with local communities, and complying with regional laws in its global operations.

Through its efforts, Volta Energy Solutions Hungary is positioning itself as a leader in responsible copper sourcing, helping shape a more sustainable future for the global copper industry.
