Uzbekistan: Air Products has teamed up with Uzbekistan's Gas Chemical Complex MTO Central Asia LLC, a leading manufacturer of polymers, to build a Methanol manufacturing facility. The facility, named Methanol Island, will be a part of the Methanol-to-Olefin (MTO) gas chemical complex in Uzbekistan and is expected to have a production capacity of 1.34 million tons per year.

A new facility is set to be constructed in Uzbekistan's Bukhara region, within the Karakul Free Economic Zone. Spanning across 15 hectares of land, the facility is expected to commence operations in 2025 and operate for 25 years.

Uzbekistan's GCC MTO complex is utilizing cutting-edge technology to process specific Natural gas with low valuable component content into high-value polymer products. This facility is designed for deep processing and has a production capacity of over 1,110,000 tons per year, setting it apart from traditional MTO facilities that rely on less environmentally friendly coal.

Uzbekistan's economy is set to diversify, cut down on imports and even export products to other regions through local production. A Methanol facility is paving the way for these goals by providing a sustainable supply of Methanol, Hydrogen and other industrial gases like Oxygen and Nitrogen. These gases are crucial in production processes for the MTO gas chemical complex.
