TotalEnergies has announced a significant discovery of additional gas condensate resources at the Harald East Middle Jurassic exploration well (HEMJ-1X) in the Danish North Sea. This well, situated in shallow waters approximately 250 kilometers from Denmark's west coast, was drilled in the eastern section of the Harald field and encountered 48 meters of net gas condensate pay within a high-quality reservoir.
To facilitate production, the HEMJ-1X well will be connected to the Harald platform, with production expected to commence before the year's end via the existing Harald and Tyra facilities. Kevin McLachlan, Senior Vice President of Exploration at TotalEnergies, highlighted the significance of this find, stating, “The success of the Harald East Middle Jurassic well, located near our Harald facilities in Denmark, showcases the effectiveness of our Exploration strategy. This discovery will enhance Danish energy supply by increasing our existing production in the North Sea, in line with the Danish National Compromise.”
TotalEnergies operates the Danish Underground Consortium, holding a 43.2% working interest. The consortium includes joint venture partners BlueNord, which holds a 36.8% interest, and Nordsøfonden, with a 20% stake. This new discovery reinforces TotalEnergies' commitment to boosting energy production in Denmark and underscores the company's strategic focus on exploring and developing resources in the North Sea. As production ramps up, this development is expected to play a key role in meeting energy demands and supporting the region's energy security.
