TOKU-E Company, a leading global manufacturer of small molecules, gene selectors, and fine chemicals for upstream manufacturing, announced the availability of high-purity Pirlimycin Hydrochloride for use in critical food safety testing workflows. This launch addresses a significant need in the industry for reliable and accurate reference materials to detect antibiotic residues in food products.

Pirlimycin Hydrochloride is the active pharmaceutical ingredient found in veterinary medicines used to treat bovine mastitis, a widespread and economically impactful infectious disease affecting livestock. The antibiotic is effective against various Gram-positive bacteria, which are common causative agents of this condition.

The introduction of TOKU-E's Pirlimycin Hydrochloride is particularly noteworthy due to its significantly higher purity compared to existing market offerings. According to Amy Lee, Chief Scientific Officer of TOKU-E EU in Belgium, "The Pirlimycin Hydrochloride currently available often presents as a mixture of isomers with a purity level around 50%, which can pose challenges when used as a reference material. This lower purity can lead to less reliable diagnostic kits and an increased risk of false positives."

TOKU-E has successfully developed a process to produce Pirlimycin Hydrochloride with a purity level of at least 95%. This enhanced purity ensures greater accuracy and reliability in diagnostic testing for Pirlimycin residues in food matrices such as meat and milk. The ability to utilize a highly pure reference standard is crucial for the development and validation of robust food safety testing methods.

The demand for effective residue testing is being driven by increasing regulatory scrutiny and the paramount need for contamination verification to safeguard consumer health. The presence of antibiotic residues in food products is a significant concern due to potential risks such as the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.

TOKU-E's high-purity Pirlimycin Hydrochloride is compatible with both quantitative and qualitative residue detection methods, offering versatility for service laboratories that routinely test for antibiotic residues and commercial labs involved in the manufacturing of antibiotic residue detection kits. This allows for comprehensive monitoring across different food sample types, ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory requirements both domestically and internationally.

"We are excited to play a vital role in supporting diagnostic laboratories that are dedicated to food safety testing," stated a spokesperson for TOKU-E. "By providing a high-quality, high-purity Pirlimycin Hydrochloride, we aim to contribute to more accurate and dependable monitoring of the global food supply, ultimately enhancing consumer confidence and public health."
