Tree Energy Solutions (TES), a leading global provider of e-NG (electric natural gas derived from green hydrogen), is excited to announce a strategic partnership with Itochu Corporation, a prominent trading and investment firm dedicated to sustainable global growth, aimed at accelerating the adoption of e-NG to decarbonize challenging industrial sectors.

The collaboration between Itochu and TES represents a significant step forward in advancing innovative solutions for global decarbonization through e-NG, a sustainable molecule produced by combining green hydrogen with biogenic or recycled CO2. Together, the companies intend to explore various avenues of cooperation, including equity investments in TES’ e-NG projects, establishing e-NG production and marketing ventures, and engaging in regulatory initiatives to support the growth and adoption of e-NG across key markets such as North America, Europe, and Japan.

As one of Japan's leading sogo shosha, Itochu has committed to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 40% from 2018 levels by 2030 and achieving net zero GHG emissions by 2050. Leveraging its extensive market intelligence and operational scale, Itochu is well-positioned to capitalize on new business opportunities, significantly contributing to the expansion of e-NG production and distribution. Actively pursuing ventures that contribute to emission reduction aligns seamlessly with TES’ mission to establish an e-NG supply chain, facilitating the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Key areas of collaboration include exploring potential long-term agreements to supply e-NG to low-carbon fuel users primarily in Japan, leveraging Itochu's existing investments in green hydrogen production companies. Specifically, the partnership aims to explore opportunities to produce and promote e-NG using CO2 emissions from hard-to-abate sectors in North America.

TES CEO and Co-Founder Marco Alverà highlighted that the partnership with Itochu represents a pivotal achievement in their global e-NG project portfolio and strategic entry into the Japanese energy market. Japan holds key importance in their expansion plans for e-NG, and collaborating with Itochu will significantly accelerate their efforts to provide dependable and cost-effective green molecules to the market.

Daisuke Inoue, Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the Metals & Minerals Resources Division at Itochu Corporation, expressed enthusiastic commitment to partnering with TES to advance the adoption of synthetic methane. This initiative is a pivotal step towards achieving their goal of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 40% from 2018 levels by 2030 and ultimately reaching net zero GHG emissions by 2050. Inoue highlighted their joint efforts as poised to unlock new opportunities, scale up production of e-NG (electronic natural gas), and drive significant progress in addressing the most complex challenges associated with emissions reduction. This collaboration underscores their strategic intent to innovate and lead in sustainability, aiming to make substantial contributions towards a more sustainable future through cutting-edge technology and impactful environmental stewardship initiatives.
