Tree Energy Solutions (TES), a prominent global producer of e-NG (electric natural gas derived from green hydrogen), has joined forces with Saibu Gas, a leading Japanese gas utility, through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance the adoption of e-NG as a clean energy solution. This collaboration aligns with Japan's ambitious target of achieving 90% e-NG usage in its City Gas supply by 2050.

The agreement outlines a strategic partnership where TES will work with Saibu Gas to enhance the stability and cleanliness of the energy provided in Japan’s city gas supply chain. Central to this initiative is the exploration of a long-term e-NG offtake contract, allowing Saibu Gas to purchase e-NG produced by TES. This e-NG is created by combining captured CO2 with green hydrogen, resulting in a fuel that can seamlessly replace conventional gas in various consumer facilities.

This partnership not only supports Japan’s carbon neutrality goals but also marks a significant step for TES in establishing an international supply chain for e-NG, particularly in the Asian market. By integrating e-NG into Japan’s energy landscape, the collaboration aims to foster a sustainable value chain that contributes to the country’s climate objectives while ensuring a reliable supply of clean energy.

Marco Alverà, CEO and Co-Founder of TES, emphasized the importance of the Japanese LNG market and the potential impact of this partnership. “We recognize the critical role of the Japanese LNG market both locally and globally. By partnering with Saibu Gas, we have a unique opportunity to drive significant progress towards greener energy alternatives for Japan’s energy sector,” he stated.

Overall, this MoU represents a major milestone in the transition towards cleaner energy solutions, highlighting the commitment of both TES and Saibu Gas to support Japan’s efforts in achieving carbon neutrality and promoting sustainable energy practices.

TES is a leading global green energy company specializing in the production of e-NG (electric natural gas derived from green hydrogen). Based in Europe, TES is dedicated to making reliable and affordable green energy widely available through large-scale projects that utilize a proven, scalable, and cost-effective approach. The company operates across North America, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia, leveraging solar and wind energy from regions with abundant sunlight or wind. This green hydrogen is then combined with climate-neutral CO2 to create e-NG, a renewable molecule that is easily transportable and storable using existing infrastructure. By supplying e-NG to various industries, TES is committed to advancing the climate agenda and promoting the global adoption of green molecules.

Based in Fukuoka, Saibu Gas provides city gas primarily to Japan's southern island of Kyushu. The company currently imports around 700,000 MT of LNG each year. With its corporate action plan "Carbon Neutral 2050," Saibu Gas is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. This plan includes intermediate goals to cut CO2 emissions by 1.5 million tonnes by 2030, encompassing emissions from its end-users as well.
