The United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has recently granted an extension to the order authorizing the construction of Tellurian's Driftwood LNG facility, situated near Lake Charles, Louisiana. According to Tellurian, the extended order stipulates that the construction must be completed by April 18, 2029. The extension was requested by Tellurian last year, with the intention of ensuring ample time for the construction of all five plants within the facility.

Octávio Simões, the CEO of Tellurian, expressed gratitude to FERC for their collaborative efforts in facilitating the secure construction of Driftwood LNG. Driftwood LNG is a substantial liquefaction export facility with a capacity of approximately 27.6 mtpa. Its initial phase is projected to feature two LNG plants, boasting an export capacity of up to 11 mtpa. This ambitious project is a crucial player in the LNG sector, aligning with the increasing global demand for natural gas.

The extended construction deadline provided by FERC aligns with Tellurian's commitment to delivering a state-of-the-art LNG facility. The granted extension not only acknowledges the complexity of the construction process but also reflects FERC's confidence in Tellurian's capability to meet the necessary safety and environmental standards.

The thorough oversight conducted by FERC, with 19 site visits and careful consideration of the extension request, attests to the regulatory body's commitment to ensuring that the construction of Driftwood LNG adheres to the highest standards of safety and environmental responsibility. This collaborative approach between Tellurian and FERC highlights the importance of transparent communication and cooperation in the energy sector, especially in projects of such magnitude.

Tellurian's significant investment in Driftwood LNG underscores the company's confidence in the long-term viability and success of the project. The approval for export and the acquisition of all required construction permits signify crucial milestones in the project's advancement. As the global demand for LNG continues to rise, Driftwood LNG is poised to contribute substantially to meeting this demand, positioning itself as a key player in the LNG market.

The collaboration with Baker Hughes further solidifies Tellurian's commitment to partnering with industry experts to ensure the efficient and timely execution of the Driftwood LNG project. The agreement with Baker Hughes not only secures the necessary equipment but also emphasizes the importance of having a reliable and experienced partner in the implementation of complex energy projects.

The extension of the construction deadline for Tellurian's Driftwood LNG facility by the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission marks a significant development in the project's timeline. It reflects the careful consideration of the construction complexities and the commitment of both Tellurian and regulatory authorities to ensuring the highest standards of safety and environmental responsibility. With its strategic collaborations and significant investments, Tellurian is well-positioned to contribute substantially to the global LNG market, meeting the growing demand for clean and efficient energy sources.
