Sun Chemical is set to showcase its latest advancements in sustainable and high-efficiency solutions for the flexible packaging industry at INFOFLEX 2025, taking place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With the theme “Experience. Transformation.,” the company will present a wide-ranging portfolio of innovative inks, coatings, and adhesives that reflect its deep commitment to environmental responsibility and operational performance. These solutions are designed to help converters and printers meet today’s industry challenges while supporting the broader sustainability goals of brand owners and packaging professionals.
Jim Felsberg, Director of Packaging Inks for North America at Sun Chemical, emphasized the company's understanding of industry needs, saying, “We understand the unique challenges faced by printers and converters, and our products are backed by extensive expertise to help our customers overcome those challenges. As brand owners strive to meet the evolving demands of consumers, our innovations help them stay ahead of trends while achieving their sustainability targets.”
At booth #403, visitors will be introduced to an array of cutting-edge products tailored to improve the sustainability of flexible packaging applications. One such innovation is the SunVisto AquaHeat water-based flexographic ink. This award-winning solution is composed of over 60% bio-based raw materials and meets stringent European food safety standards. It is engineered for high-heat industrial oven environments and delivers vivid, high-quality results for food packaging, offering an eco-conscious alternative without compromising on print performance.
Sun Chemical will also highlight its SunSpectro SolvaWash FL+ solvent-based inks, which are washable and de-inkable, developed without the need for primers. Recognized by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR), these inks facilitate the creation of high-quality recycled HDPE and improve PET bottle recyclability. Similarly, the SunUno Solimax AP ink system, honored by the Flexographic Technical Association, is a multi-purpose, solvent-based system designed for snack food packaging. Its compostable nature helps reduce landfill waste and supports sustainable end-of-life scenarios.
In addition to these environmentally focused offerings, the company will spotlight the SolarWave CRCL UV LED curing inks. These versatile inks are compatible with both mercury vapor and LED curing systems, enabling reduced energy consumption. Their ability to fully wash off printed substrates without bleeding makes them ideal for recycling processes.
Beyond sustainability, Sun Chemical’s exhibit will feature solutions that enhance the efficiency of print production. SolarFlex UV flexo inks are engineered for high-speed printing and deliver low odor, low migration performance for food-safe applications. The SunStrato HydroLam water-based lamination inks are compatible with multiple lamination systems, including solvent, solvent-less, and extrusion, and are compliant with Swiss Ordinance standards for indirect food contact. SunSpectro Hydropoly water-based inks and coatings offer fast drying, excellent adhesion, and rub resistance for printing on diverse film substrates. Additionally, SunLam ultra-low monomer adhesives—both solvent-based and solvent-free—ensure compliance with stringent safety regulations while promoting efficient pressroom performance. The SunScreen coating weight monitoring system rounds out the offering, enabling real-time, in-line monitoring for improved quality control and reduced waste.
With this robust lineup, Sun Chemical continues to lead the way in delivering transformative solutions for a more sustainable and productive future in packaging.
