Source3 Energy X Inc. (Source3X) and the Skeena Industrial Development Park (SIDP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly develop the Skeena Clean Hydrogen Hub. This large-scale facility will produce clean hydrogen and derivative fuel products at the Skeena Industrial Development Park in Terrace, British Columbia, Canada.

The Skeena Clean Hydrogen Hub will generate clean hydrogen from renewable and other energy sources to address the increasing local and global demand for clean fuels, supporting the long-term shift to zero-carbon transportation and industrial processes. When fully operational, the facility will produce up to 50,000 tonnes per year of carbon-free hydrogen or its downstream products, including clean ammonia, e-fuels, and sustainable aviation fuels.

Michael Pucci, Manager of the Skeena Industrial Development Park, stated, "We have been in discussions with Source3 Energy X Inc. for some time and are excited to reach this milestone. This MOU represents a significant opportunity to potentially establish a major new industry in our area. Moreover, this industry has substantial growth potential, and as hydrogen is a clean energy source, it will contribute to the decarbonization of various other sectors in our region. We also want to extend our gratitude to the Northern BC Hydrogen Hub for their support in aligning our interests."

Ayaz Khokhar, President and CEO of Source3X, said, "The Skeena Clean Hydrogen Hub is a crucial initial component of the clean energy cluster we are building in Northern British Columbia. We anticipate substantial and sustained growth in the demand for green hydrogen and its by-products, both globally and within Canada. Terrace, as a key energy, road, and rail transportation hub in Pacific Canada, is ideally positioned to help decarbonize heavy-duty transportation and other industries."

Source3X, an independent clean energy project developer based in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, is advancing projects in British Columbia, Atlantic Canada, and Ontario. The company's clean energy cluster in British Columbia features GW-scale clean electricity generation from wind power to address the province's increasing electricity needs, along with a long-term plan to expand clean hydrogen production across several sites in Northern British Columbia.

Green hydrogen is a clean and versatile energy carrier produced via electrolysis using renewable energy sources like wind and solar power. This production method generates no greenhouse gas emissions, positioning green hydrogen as a crucial component in the shift towards a sustainable, low-carbon economy. It is produced through the electrolysis of water using electricity from renewable energy sources.
