SLB, a global leader in energy technology, has been awarded a series of significant drilling contracts by Shell to support capital-efficient energy development across the company’s deepwater and ultra-deepwater assets. These assets are spread across key regions, including the UK North Sea, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Gulf of Mexico. The multi-region contracts will be delivered over a three-year period and involve a comprehensive range of services aimed at enhancing Shell's energy production in these challenging environments. SLB’s approach will leverage cutting-edge, AI-enabled digital drilling capabilities combined with its extensive expertise in ultra-deepwater operations to optimize well performance and reduce costs.

A key focus of the projects is to consistently and predictably deliver high-quality wells that improve operational efficiency. SLB’s digital solutions are designed to enhance drilling accuracy, speed, and safety, ultimately reducing the time and costs associated with each project. By combining digital tools with SLB’s deep knowledge of complex deepwater environments, the company aims to provide Shell with innovative solutions that can drive more efficient energy production in some of the world’s most demanding offshore regions. This alignment with Shell’s focus on capital-efficient energy development will contribute to the success of both parties in the years to come.

Wallace Pescarini, President of Offshore Atlantic at SLB, expressed his pride in continuing the long-standing relationship between SLB and Shell, underlining the importance of the partnership in advancing safe and efficient energy development. He stated that SLB’s global expertise in managing complex offshore projects and its advanced technology solutions are crucial to meeting Shell’s expectations. Pescarini emphasized SLB’s commitment to providing high-quality services that meet the safety and efficiency standards required for such challenging offshore environments. The company’s ability to adapt to the evolving needs of its clients while maintaining a focus on sustainability and cost efficiency is at the core of SLB’s approach to energy development.

The scope of these contracts includes a wide range of services designed to support Shell’s offshore projects. These services encompass digital directional drilling, hardware provision, logging while drilling (LWD), surface logging, cementing, drilling and completions fluids, completions, and wireline services. SLB has already begun providing these services to Shell, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition into the execution phase of the projects. To facilitate real-time monitoring and data-driven decision-making, each project will be centrally managed through SLB’s Performance Live™ centers, which are equipped with the latest technology to track and optimize performance across all phases of the drilling process.

SLB’s Performance Live™ centers provide Shell with advanced data analytics and decision-making tools that ensure optimal performance and safety throughout each project. By integrating real-time data and predictive analytics, SLB can deliver actionable insights to improve operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and maximize resource recovery. This approach enhances the long-term value for Shell and supports its broader goals of achieving sustainable and cost-efficient energy production.

Through this collaboration, SLB is reinforcing its role as a key player in the energy sector, delivering innovative solutions and contributing to the global energy transition. The deepwater contracts with Shell underscore SLB’s expertise in managing complex energy projects and its commitment to delivering safe, high-performance services in some of the world’s most challenging offshore environments. By continuously pushing the boundaries of technology and operational excellence, SLB aims to help Shell unlock the full potential of its deepwater assets, contributing to the energy security and sustainability of the future.
