Signature Aviation, a global leader in private aviation terminal services, has announced a significant expansion of its sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) offering in Europe, marking a pivotal step towards reducing the industry's carbon footprint. The company has secured multiple blended SAF supply agreements that will bring this eco-friendly fuel to six new locations across the continent in 2025.
The newly added airports to Signature's SAF network include key hubs like:
-
East Midlands Airport (EMA)
-
Aéroport Paris Le Bourget (LBG)
-
Gatwick Airport (LGW)
-
London Heathrow Airport (LHR)
-
London Luton Airport (LTN)
-
Manchester Airport (MAN)
This expansion will bring Signature's total SAF-accessible locations to 33 globally, with 8 of those located within the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, demonstrating the company's commitment to sustainability on a global scale.
This move follows Signature's recent announcement in October 2024, where it expanded its blended SAF availability to six major private aviation markets on the U.S. East Coast and Gulf Coast. These combined agreements are set to introduce over 50 million gallons of blended SAF into the Signature network throughout 2025, significantly increasing the accessibility of sustainable fuel options for private aviation operators.
“We are proud to expand our SAF offering to six new locations in Europe following our recent expansion to additional key markets in the United States,” stated Derek DeCross, Chief Commercial Officer at Signature Aviation. “Along with our suppliers, we’re continuing to leverage the most comprehensive SAF supply chain in aviation to help our guests meet their sustainability initiatives through greater availability throughout our network.”
The strategic expansion underscores Signature Aviation's dedication to supporting its clients' sustainability goals by providing them with greater access to SAF, a crucial component in reducing aviation's environmental impact. SAF, derived from renewable sources such as waste oils and fats, offers a significant reduction in lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional jet fuel.
In addition to the SAF expansion, Signature Aviation has outlined further sustainability initiatives for the EMEA region in 2025. This includes plans to expand SAF availability to more locations later in the year, reinforcing their dedication to a phased and comprehensive approach to sustainability. Notably, Signature will unveil its first zero-emissions, fully electric refueler in EMEA at its Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) location this spring, showcasing the company's commitment to innovative and environmentally friendly solutions.
Signature Aviation has already achieved significant milestones in its sustainability journey. Recently, the company surpassed the 50 million gallon mark in blended SAF pumped, a testament to its proactive approach in promoting sustainable aviation practices.
