Sandvik has secured a substantial order for underground mining equipment from Cimertex, a distributor based in Portugal, on behalf of Almina Minas do Alentejo S.A., a prominent mining company in Portugal. This order, amounting to approximately SEK 340 million, was confirmed during the second quarter and entails deliveries scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2024, continuing through 2025.

The equipment package comprises Toro™ TH663i trucks, Toro™ LH621i loaders, Sandvik DS411 rock bolters, and Sandvik DL421 longhole production drills. Notably, a significant portion of the trucks will feature AutoMine® Fleet, Sandvik’s advanced automation system tailored for coordinating fleets of underground loaders and trucks operating within the same production zone. Additionally, the agreement encompasses a comprehensive seven-year aftermarket service contract for Almina.

This substantial order will enable Almina Minas do Alentejo S.A. to double its current production capacity within Portugal’s prolific Iberian pyrite belt. Following the scheduled deliveries of advanced Sandvik equipment, including Toro™ trucks, loaders, rock bolters, and production drills, Almina will oversee one of the most extensive fleets of Sandvik machinery in Europe. This strategic enhancement underscores Almina’s commitment to operational efficiency and growth in mineral extraction, reinforcing its position as a leading player in the regional mining sector.

Mats Eriksson, President of Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, highlighted that the agreement underscores the robustness of their advanced mining equipment and the effectiveness of their mining automation solutions. He expressed satisfaction in strengthening their longstanding partnership with Cimertex and receiving ongoing trust from Almina. Eriksson emphasized their commitment to assisting Almina in enhancing productivity and lowering operational costs in their mining endeavors. This reaffirms Sandvik's dedication to providing cutting-edge solutions that drive efficiency and sustainability in the mining industry.
