Rux Energy and Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV) have joined forces in a groundbreaking Joint Development Project (JDP) to advance the certification and safety validation of hydrogen storage solutions. This initiative marks a major milestone in the development of next-generation storage systems utilizing Rux Energy’s nanoporous materials, designed to enhance efficiency and safety for large-scale hydrogen transport and distribution.

Titled “Certification of Cryogenic Pressure Vessels for Hydrogen Storage and Transport,” the project brings together approximately 30 global experts from France, Australia, Singapore, and the UK. Their focus is to address key safety challenges and hazard mitigation strategies for hydrogen storage and transportation across road, rail, maritime, and offshore applications. By setting new standards, this collaboration has the potential to reshape global hydrogen storage practices, accelerating the shift to green hydrogen adoption.

At the heart of this effort is Rux Energy’s proprietary nanoporous physisorption materials, which offer a cost-effective, safer, and more efficient hydrogen storage solution. These innovations promise to significantly reduce supply chain expenses, improve on-site storage at production facilities, and lower transportation and distribution costs. Furthermore, the project will support agile refueling, bunkering, and shoreside power operations in intermodal and port hubs, fostering local supply chain development in Singapore, Australia, the UK, and Europe.

The Joint Development Project represents a substantial investment by both Rux Energy and BV. The insights gained will be shared with the broader hydrogen and power-fuels community, particularly with Rux Energy’s first adopters in the marine, offshore, and bulk transport sectors. This international collaboration highlights the role of targeted technological advancements in accelerating decarbonization efforts by fostering more efficient and interconnected supply chains. By facilitating the adoption of climate-friendly, zero-emission hydrogen solutions, this initiative is expected to play a crucial role in transforming the maritime and heavy transport industries.

Dr. Jehan Kanga, Founder & CEO of Rux Energy, emphasized the project’s significance, stating:

"This collaboration is the culmination of years of dedicated research across Australia, the UK, Europe, and Singapore. Our goal is to bring Rux’s patented nanoporous hydrogen storage materials from discovery to full-scale commercial deployment at an accelerated pace, ensuring certification across a wide range of applications on land and at sea."

Matthieu de Tugny, President of Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore, added:

"We are thrilled to embark on this project with Rux Energy, which we believe will revolutionize hydrogen bulk storage and distribution. This initiative will also contribute to the decarbonization of heavy land transport and maritime sectors, marking a significant step forward in safety and efficiency."

This partnership signals a bold leap toward a greener, more sustainable hydrogen-powered future, reinforcing the importance of innovation and collaboration in achieving global decarbonization goals.
