China: To selectively Trimerize and Tetramerize Ethylene to generate 1-Hexene and 1-Octene, Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical (ZPC), a division of Rongsheng Petrochemical, is using its catalytic processing system and manufacturing. Universities and Shanghai Zonepic Chemical technique Co. Ltd. collaborated to create this manufacturing technique.

At its petrochemical complex, ZPC is developing an Alpha-Olefin plant with annual capacities of 1,000 tons of 1-Hexene and 300 tons of 1-Octene. Only one type of olefin will be produced at a time by the two capabilities, which will work separately.

This project is in line with the "14th Five-Year Plan" for China's petroleum and chemical industry, which was released in 2021 and outlines the country's development priorities. High-carbon Alpha-Olefin copolymerized polyethylene, environmentally friendly metallocene catalyst production technology, Polyolefin specialty materials, modified plastics, and new plastic compounds are just a few of the high-end polyolefin products it seeks to advance, improving the performance of already existing high-end polyolefin products.

By aligning "reducing oil consumption and increasing chemical production" and "extending the high-value-added industrial chain," this new project will lessen the nation's reliance on foreign process technology and lay the groundwork for future high-end new materials.

According to reports, ZPC now operates two large full-density polyethylene factories with an annual capacity of 450,000 tons each, each of which requires the external purchase of 19,300 tons of 1-Octene and 1,630 tons of 1-Hexene. They will be used to their maximum potential at the Polyethylene facilities if they pass the quality inspection norms.

ZPC, a comprehensive refining and chemical firm with headquarters in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, with an annual refining capacity of 40 million tons (T/A). With RMB 448.32 billion in revenue in 2022, Zhejiang Rongsheng Holding Group, the parent business of Rongsheng Petrochemical, is ranked 59th in China. According to the Fortune Global 500 from the previous year, Zhejiang Rongsheng Holding Group was the third-largest chemical conglomerate worldwide, after Germany's BASF and China's state-owned Sinochem Holdings.

China-based Rongsheng Petrochemical Co., Ltd. specializes in the development, production, and distribution of refining products, petrochemicals, and chemical fibers. 2 million tons of aromatic Hydrocarbons, over 13 million tons of pure Terephthalic Acid (PTA), 2 million tons of PET, one million tons each of POY and FDY, and 0.45 million tons of DTY may all be produced annually by Rongsheng. The total PTA capability of Rongsheng is the highest in the entire world.

Through its subsidiary ZPC, Rongsheng continues to pursue its "Two-way of Vertical and Horizontal" development plan and has created a green refining-petrochemical integrated project with a total annual capacity of 40 million tons.
