Röchling Industrial has announced an investment of nearly €10 million to establish a new sustainability center at its recycling plant in Geeste-Dalum, Germany. Originally opened in March 2021, the facility is dedicated to cleaning, sorting, and grinding post-industrial polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) from Röchling’s production processes and its customers. The recyclates are then reprocessed into semi-finished technical plastic products at Röchling’s plant in Haren.

The company plans to significantly expand the Geeste-Dalum recycling center by 2027, increasing its size from 6,300 square meters to over 30,000 square meters. This expansion will enable Röchling to process more than 10,000 tonnes of plastic waste annually. To support this increased capacity, the company will add new shredders, grinding, and production plants to the existing facility. Additionally, a modern office building and a new production hall covering over 4,000 square meters will be constructed, both of which will feature a large-scale photovoltaic system to harness renewable energy.

This expansion is expected to create approximately 20 new jobs, further contributing to the local economy. Franz Lübbers, CEO of Röchling Industrial, highlighted the importance of sustainability for the company, stating, "As a family business, sustainability plays a major role for us. This investment is about living up to our responsibility and ensuring the future viability of our company. At the same time, we are strengthening the circular economy and expanding our international pioneering role in the long term."

Röchling’s recycled products are marketed under the Röchling-ReLoop brand, which was launched in 2022. The brand's portfolio includes post-consumer recycled products and ISCC-Plus certified products, offering customers the opportunity to reduce waste and purchase new, sustainable semi-finished products. Wilhelm Korte-Dirxen, COO of Röchling Industrial, emphasized the value of these products in maintaining strong, long-term relationships with customers.

This €10 million investment brings Röchling’s total investment in the Geeste-Dalum facility to €15 million. Röchling Industrial is a division of the Röchling Group, which also operates in the medical and automotive sectors. In 2023, the group generated joint annual sales of €2.7 billion, underscoring its strong market presence and commitment to sustainability.

The Röchling Group has been shaping industries globally for over 200 years.
