Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (RCF), the fourth largest manufacturer of fertilizers in the country, has finally begun the production of Methanol from 8 September 2020 in Trombay Plant Unit, Mumbai.  Prior to this commencement, the company was engaged in importing Methanol from international market for production as well as for trading purpose. With this new Methanol plant, RCFL has attained self sufficiency in catering to its own production needs without being dependent on imports. The initiative strengthens the position of RFL as one of the few companies engaged in the production of Methanol in India, furthermore it extends support to government ambitious ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ movement. RFCL Methanol plant is equipped with a plant capacity of 0.24 KTPA per day. The company is flexible to expand its capacity in line with the future strategic reforms. In addition, the company has enhanced the capacity of its complex fertilizer Sulphala to 2.2 KTPD. Methanol, a versatile alcohol commodity is widely employed in manufacturing of pesticides, pharmaceuticals, dyestuff, etc.
