PPG Completes Expansion of Vietnam Industrial Coatings Facility

PPG Industries, Inc. has announced the successful completion of capacity expansion initiatives at its Yen Phong industrial coatings facility in B?c Ninh province, Vietnam. The upgrades include a dedicated production line for PPG AQUACRON™ waterborne decorative and functional coatings, specifically designed for consumer electronics applications. Additionally, the plant has been equipped with cutting-edge testing equipment and automated spray booths to further enhance quality and efficiency. This strategic investment aligns with PPG's commitment to meeting the increasing demand for innovative coatings solutions in the Vietnamese market.

The upgraded facility, now featuring six production lines, is designed to enhance efficiency by reducing turnaround times and accelerating the development of coatings, while also broadening access to PPG’s technical and customer support. This strategic investment highlights PPG’s dedication to the Southeast Asian region and its commitment to meeting the rising demand for sustainable products, driven by the growing presence of multinational consumer electronics brands in the area.

The facility not only produces PPG Aquacron coatings but also manufactures a diverse range of specialized coatings, including PPG SPECTRACRON™ liquid coatings for transportation applications, PPG DURANAR™ coil and extrusion coatings for architectural and building products, and RAYCRON™ UV-curable coatings for electronic materials. This broad production capacity underscores the facility's versatility and its importance in serving various industries with advanced coating solutions.

Irene Tasi, PPG's senior vice president of Industrial Coatings, emphasized that as a reliable supplier to top consumer electronics OEMs, PPG provides advanced solutions that improve the durability, design, and functionality of their products. Additionally, PPG's coatings, which are formulated with minimal or no solvents, help these industry partners reduce their carbon footprints, aligning with broader sustainability goals.

Le Dong Lam, PPG's general manager for Southeast Asia, Industrial Coatings, and country manager for Vietnam, stated that the investment marks a significant advancement in PPG's ongoing commitment to developing innovative and sustainable products. These efforts aim to protect and enhance communities worldwide.

PPG customers can take advantage of the PPG SECURE LAUNCH EXCELLENCE™ program, which seamlessly integrates new coating technologies and colors into their production processes. This initiative ensures that these new solutions meet exact customer specifications right from the first application.
