Petrobras and the Brazilian Chemical Industry Association (ABIQUIM) have entered into a Protocol of Intent aimed at fostering collaboration in the Gas and Energy sector. The primary objective of this agreement is to explore potential opportunities for both Petrobras and ABIQUIM's member companies, with a specific focus on identifying new business prospects within the realms of natural gas and/or energy. The agreement, signed on April 15th, has an initial validity of one year, with the provision for extension if necessary. It's noteworthy that the companies affiliated with ABIQUIM are significant consumers of Petrobras' products.

Established six decades ago, ABIQUIM operates as a non-profit organization, serving as an umbrella association for a wide spectrum of chemical industries. These industries range from large-scale corporations to medium and small-sized enterprises, encompassing a diverse array of sectors within the chemical industry. Additionally, ABIQUIM's membership includes service providers catering to various facets of the chemical sector, such as logistics, transportation, waste management, and emergency response.

Petrobras is a publicly traded corporation that operates with specialization across the oil, natural gas, and energy sectors. Leveraging decades of experience and expertise, Petrobras has emerged as a global leader in exploration and production, particularly in the challenging environments of the Brazilian basins, including deep and ultra-deep waters.

However, Petrobras' scope extends beyond mere extraction activities. The company is involved in a comprehensive process that encompasses the transportation of oil and gas to its refineries and natural gas treatment units. As such, Petrobras places significant emphasis on equipping and continually evolving these units to ensure the delivery of top-quality products.

Operating at low costs and with a keen focus on minimizing carbon footprint are among Petrobras' key priorities. This commitment not only enhances operational efficiency but also aligns with the company's dedication to sustainable development in a transitioning society.

Currently, Petrobras organizes its operations into three primary segments: Exploration and Production (E&P), Refining, Transportation, and Marketing (RT&C), and Gas and Energy (G&E).

The Brazilian Chemical Industry Association, also referred to as Associação Brasileira da Indústria Química (ABIQUIM) in Portuguese, serves as the representative body for Brazilian chemical producers. ABIQUIM addresses a broad spectrum of concerns within the industry, spanning quality assurance, environmental and safety standards, human resources development, and various other pertinent matters. The Brazilian Chemical Industry Association stands as the primary entity representing the nation's chemical sector, with a core mission to foster the growth and cohesion of the Brazilian chemical community. Central to its objectives is the dissemination of chemistry and its significant relationships, applications, and impacts on the nation's progress. Furthermore, ABIQUIM is dedicated to advancing the quality of life for citizens through its initiatives.
