ONE-Dyas has received final regulatory clearance from both German and Dutch authorities to fully initiate development of the N05-A gas field and its surrounding prospects in the North Sea. This pivotal approval, granted by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economy, Transport, Construction and Digitalization, and Das Landesamt für Bergbau, Energie und Geologie (LBEG), marks a significant milestone for the cross-border energy project. With all necessary permits secured, ONE-Dyas is now empowered to execute its plans for extracting natural gas from this shared offshore resource.
The license application included a thorough and comprehensive environmental impact assessment, demonstrating that the project poses no significant negative impact on the environment. This assessment is consistent with the findings of the Dutch environmental impact report, which is regarded as the most extensive study ever conducted on the environmental implications of a gas extraction project in the Netherlands. The report's conclusions reinforce the project's environmental viability, emphasizing that all necessary precautions and mitigation measures have been thoroughly considered. This alignment with the Dutch report underscores the project's commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible resource development.
ONE-Dyas is on track to commence natural gas deliveries to Dutch and German residential customers before year-end, with project milestones being achieved ahead of schedule. A significant development occurred on August 6, 2024, when the N05-A platform was successfully installed in the Dutch sector of the North Sea. This installation is a critical step in the project, setting the stage for the upcoming production phase.
This project stands out due to its unwavering focus on sustainability. By leveraging clean energy from the adjacent Riffgat offshore wind farm, the N05-A platform achieves a near-zero emissions footprint, positioning it as a pioneering example of eco-friendly production. This approach represents a major advance toward a sustainable and climate-neutral energy supply, highlighting ONE-Dyas's dedication to environmental responsibility.
Chris de Ruyter van Steveninck, CEO of ONE-Dyas, stated that receiving approvals from both the Netherlands and Germany is a strong validation that the company is heading in the right direction and has effectively developed its project. He highlighted that while the transition to 100% renewable energy sources is essential, it takes time to achieve. In the interim, meeting local demand for natural gas remains crucial, and ONE-Dyas is committed to ensuring that this gas is produced with the lowest possible carbon footprint. The approvals signify a mutual commitment to securing energy supply, advancing the energy transition, and achieving climate goals in a safe and responsible manner.
