Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), the operator of the Mari East Exploration License with a 100% working interest, has made a significant gas discovery at its exploratory well, Chak 202-1. This well is situated in District Rahim Yar Khan within the Punjab Province. The discovery marks a notable achievement for OGDCL, potentially enhancing its operational portfolio and contributing to the region's energy resources. This development underscores OGDCL's ongoing commitment to exploration and its strategic efforts to bolster natural gas production in Pakistan.

Chak 202-1, an exploratory well spudded on June 29, 2024, by Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) using its in-house expertise, reached a depth of 1956.50 meters. The well's wireline log interpretation and Drill Stem Test-1 (Barefoot) in the Sui Main Limestone (SML) demonstrated a gas flow rate of 6.15 million Standard Cubic Feet Per Day (MMSCFD) through a 32/64" choke at a Well Head Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 1340 Pounds per Square Inch (psi). This successful test highlights the well's promising production capacity and reinforces OGDCL's exploration achievements in the region.

This discovery marks the second consecutive find in the Mari East Block, showcasing Oil and Gas Development Company Limited's (OGDCL) dedication to exploiting the block's hydrocarbon potential through a robust exploration strategy. The successful discovery not only opens new opportunities but also plays a crucial role in addressing the energy demand-supply gap with domestic resources.
