Nouryon, a global specialty chemicals leader, has marked a significant milestone in sustainable chemical manufacturing with the launch of Eka HP Puroxide, a pioneering low-carbon hydrogen peroxide product. As the first company in the Nordic region to introduce such an innovative solution, Nouryon is poised to empower its customers in the pulp and paper, mining, and water treatment sectors to drastically reduce their Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions.

This groundbreaking product is manufactured at Nouryon's integrated sodium chlorate and hydrogen peroxide facilities, where the processes enable the creation of a hydrogen peroxide with an exceptionally low carbon footprint. This approach allows Nouryon to deliver a regional hydrogen peroxide solution that achieves a remarkable reduction of up to 90% in carbon footprint compared to conventional natural gas steam reforming methods.

The key to Eka HP Puroxide's low carbon footprint lies in its production process. It utilizes fossil-free hydrogen, sourced directly from Nouryon's chlorate production, and oxygen from the air. This innovative method eliminates the reliance on fossil fuels, a stark contrast to traditional hydrogen peroxide production, which heavily depends on natural gas. Furthermore, Eka HP Puroxide is exclusively produced in Sweden using renewable electricity, further solidifying its environmental credentials.
