During the Kazakhstan-Italy Forum taking place in Milan from October 7 to 9, NEXTCHEM and KazMunayGas-Aero (KMG AERO) have entered into an agreement to collaborate on energy transition projects. This partnership will utilize NEXTCHEM’s proprietary technologies and process engineering expertise to support the decarbonization and enhancement of Kazakhstan's industrial sector and assets. The primary focus will be on producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and low-carbon hydrogen through CO2 capture, along with implementing circular economy solutions.

NEXTCHEM is set to spearhead sustainable innovation with its advanced technologies, particularly for Sustainable Aviation Fuel, including NX SAF BIO and NX Circular. The NX Circular initiative is a "Waste-to-X" solution designed to convert waste into valuable chemical resources. Additionally, NEXTCHEM offers NX AdWinHydrogen and NX AdWinMethanol, which are groundbreaking approaches for the large-scale production of low-carbon hydrogen and methanol from natural gas via CO2 capture. Furthermore, NEXTCHEM is enhancing its circular economy efforts through cutting-edge technologies like NX Replast, an innovative solution for plastic upcycling.

The collaboration between NEXTCHEM and KMG AERO will involve assessing the feasibility of development initiatives within Kazakhstan. TECNIMONT will play a key role in evaluating the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) activities as the projects move towards the execution phase. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Ildar Shamsutdinov, General Director of KMG AERO, and Alessandro Bernini, CEO of MAIRE, in the presence of Arman Shakkaliev, Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, and Attilio Fontana, President of the Lombardy Region, along with various officials from both nations.

Alessandro Bernini expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “As one of the world’s leaders in the energy sector, Kazakhstan is a strategic and valuable partner for us. The synergy of the country’s resources combined with our Group’s technologies and engineering expertise presents a unique opportunity to propel the global transition to a sustainable, low-carbon economy. We are excited to embark on this journey together.”

This collaboration signifies a significant step forward in fostering sustainable practices in Kazakhstan’s energy sector and aligns with global efforts to mitigate climate change through innovative technologies and processes. By leveraging NEXTCHEM's capabilities and KMG AERO's resources, the partnership aims to drive meaningful progress in the production of clean energy solutions.

MAIRE S.p.A. heads a technology and engineering group focused on creating and implementing innovative solutions to facilitate the Energy Transition. The company provides Sustainable Technology Solutions and Integrated Engineering and Construction (E&C) Solutions across various sectors, including nitrogen fertilizers, hydrogen, circular carbon, fuels, chemicals, and polymers.
