Neste has launched terminal capacity at ONEOK’s facility in Houston, Texas, for the blending and storage of Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™. This development significantly enhances the availability of Neste’s SAF for airlines operating from airports east of the Rocky Mountains through to the East Coast.

The new capacity at ONEOK’s Houston terminal offers Neste storage for up to 100,000 tons (approximately 33.5 million gallons) and is directly linked to the energy pipeline infrastructure in the eastern U.S. In 2021, Neste demonstrated its ability to supply SAF to New York’s LaGuardia Airport using the existing fuel distribution network. Additionally, in September 2023, Neste broadened its ability to provide renewable fuels by commissioning new terminal capacity in Los Angeles, California.

Alexander Kueper, Vice President of Renewable Aviation Business at Neste, stated, “Neste is dedicated to aiding the U.S. aviation industry in its decarbonization efforts. Expanding our SAF supply capabilities in collaboration with partners like ONEOK highlights this commitment. It ensures a dependable supply of SAF for both domestic and visiting airlines at airports across the eastern U.S. and provides a strong foundation for supporting state, federal, and local policies in the country.”

Greg Lusardi, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at ONEOK, commented, “ONEOK is thrilled to supply the essential energy products required today while continuing to innovate for the future. As a key partner delivering crucial energy to the aviation sector, we are proud to leverage our extensive infrastructure to support growth in the sustainable fuels market.”

Sustainable aviation fuel offers a renewable alternative to traditional fossil-based jet fuel, enhancing sustainability. Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™ can cut greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80%* over its lifecycle compared to conventional jet fuel. Made from 100% renewable waste and residue materials, including used cooking oil and animal fat waste, Neste’s SAF is blended with conventional jet fuel before use. It integrates smoothly with current aircraft engines and fueling infrastructure.

Neste utilizes scientific advancements and innovative technology to transform waste and other resources into renewable fuels and circular raw materials. The company focuses on creating solutions to address climate change and drive the transition to a circular economy. As the leading global producer of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel, and a pioneer in developing renewable and circular feedstock solutions for polymers and chemicals, Neste aims to help its customers cut their greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20 million tons annually by 2030.
