Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Secures Further Order for Two Units of LNG Fuel Gas Supply System (FGSS)

Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a member of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group headquartered in Yokohama, has been awarded a contract by Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. for an additional pair of its Fuel Gas Supply System (FGSS) units, designed for liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel gas supply to high-pressure dual-fuel marine engines. These FGSS units will be installed on two LNG-fueled bulk carriers to be constructed by Imabari Shipbuilding, with continuous delivery scheduled alongside LNG fuel tank installations starting in the summer of 2025.

The FGSS units ordered from Imabari Shipbuilding showcase an enhanced cargo space layout, employing a modular design to enhance both space efficiency and accessibility for maintenance purposes. They also feature a streamlined construction schedule at shipyards and a proprietary control system adaptable to customer specifications, ensuring both superior operability and safety. Mitsubishi Shipbuilding has previously secured orders for a combined total of 18 high-pressure FGSS units, including those for the LNG-fueled car carriers "SWEET PEA LEADER" and "DAISY LEADER," both constructed by Imabari Shipbuilding Group and already in operation since October 2023 and March 2024, respectively. With this latest order, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding will supply a cumulative total of 20 units (comprising 15 car carriers and 5 bulk carriers) to Imabari Shipbuilding Group.
