McDermott and BW Offshore have announced a collaboration aimed at enhancing the technical and commercial feasibility of offshore blue ammonia production. This strategic partnership seeks to create a viable pathway for blue ammonia, aligning with global efforts to transition to low-carbon energy sources and reaffirming both companies' dedication to sustainability.

The collaboration will harness the combined expertise of McDermott and BW Offshore to develop low-carbon ammonia production using a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) facility. FPSOs are advantageous for ammonia production, offering benefits in environmental safety, health standards, scheduling reliability, and competitive pricing for ammonia.

BW Offshore will contribute its expertise in FPSO solutions, employing innovative approaches to offshore production facilities. Its commitment to sustainable technologies positions it as an ideal partner for this initiative. Meanwhile, McDermott brings significant experience in engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) across the energy sector. The company will leverage its extensive technical knowledge, project execution capabilities, and global fabrication assets to support the venture.
