Maruti Suzuki Resumes Production at Manesar, Prompts a Ray of Hope for the Elastomer Industry

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., a downstream company of elastomers, to start operations at Manesar plant after a halt of more than a month put up in compliance with the government norms for the prevention of Coronavirus. Initially, the country’s largest carmakers will proceed the resumption with just one shift encompassing nearly 50 per cent of the total workforce. The company has set up a special Covid-19 committee and has made all the arrangements for proper cleanliness and hygiene to ensure the safety of its workers. The ease provided in the nationwide lockdown has made the company to further open 600 dealerships. As per the CEO and Managing Director of the company, all the necessary steps have been taken to ensure at most safety and sanitisation of all touch points. These measures are to remove hesitation among the people to visit showrooms for man to man buying. Moreover, the initiation of production in Maruti Suzuki prompts a ray of hope in the elastomer business of the country with Butyl Rubber and Isoprene Rubber being the prominent products utilized in the manufacturing of tyres. The company also has its massive facility in Gujarat as well as Gurgaon, but both plants are anticipated to remain shut on course of dampened demand and low revenue. Altogether, the plant capacity of Manesar and Gurgaon plant is around 15.5 million units.
