Manies Group, a leading investment firm focused on next-generation technologies, and Hoku Energy Group, a prominent player in the green hydrogen and ammonia value chain, have announced a strategic partnership to develop green ammonia and hydrogen projects in Japan. The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on identifying, evaluating, and advancing projects in a select region of Western Japan.
Both companies share a common vision of accelerating the transition to a low-carbon future. Manies, with its commitment to investing in technologies that drive decarbonization, sees green hydrogen and ammonia as key solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Hoku Energy, with its deep expertise in the hydrogen and ammonia sector, brings valuable technical and project development capabilities to the partnership.
By combining Manies' strong local presence in Japan with Hoku Energy's global network and technical expertise, the partnership aims to capitalize on the growing demand for clean energy solutions in the country. The collaboration will focus on developing projects that align with Japan's ambitious climate goals and contribute to the nation's energy security.
The initial phase of the partnership will involve conducting feasibility studies and front-end engineering design (FEED) for selected projects. This will include assessing the technical and economic viability of the projects, identifying potential off-takers, and securing necessary permits and approvals.
The partnership between Manies and Hoku Energy marks a significant step forward in the development of green hydrogen and ammonia projects in Japan. By combining their strengths and resources, the two companies are well-positioned to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions that will benefit both the environment and the economy.
The MOU was signed by key representatives from both companies, including Mr. Hirotsugu Fujii, CEO Maines and Takahiro Sawada, Director, Overseas & Renewable Energy Infrastructure Business Maines. Hoku Energy Group Senior Director Daisuke Fukuzaki and their Project Development Specialist Masamichi Izumi were also present.
Hoku Energy is focused on creating a fully carbon-neutral green hydrogen and ammonia supply chain. The company develops renewable energy projects in resource-rich countries to generate green fuel, overseeing both the production and demand across multiple regions. They work with regional partners to build large-scale green fuel production facilities and collaborate on storage, transport, and logistics with global technology companies. Hoku also offers 24x7 Carbon-Free Energy (CFE) solutions to ensure reliable, traceable clean energy that supports industries aiming for net-zero emissions. Their vision is to lead the green hydrogen revolution, transforming industries and communities toward sustainability.
