On April 26, 2024, Linde disclosed that it has augmented the capacity of its production facility located in Mims, Florida, in reaction to the escalating demand for industrial gases in the area.
Linde has increased production capacity at Mims by 50%, building upon a previous project in 2020 that doubled output. This recent investment by Linde aims to fulfill the rising demand for oxygen, nitrogen, and argon from clients spanning healthcare, manufacturing, food processing, and water treatment sectors in Florida. Additionally, the expanded capacity will cater to Linde's aerospace clientele, including a prominent space launch company, as previously disclosed.
Furthermore, apart from the capacity expansion, the Mims facility became a part of Florida Power & Light’s SolarTogether® program in 2023, resulting in a 15% reduction in the facility’s Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions.
Todd Lawson, Linde's Vice President East Region, stated, "We have consistently invested in enhancing our regional network density to meet the rising demand for industrial gases, fueled in part by the growing space launch industry and bolstered by a robust regional economy. Linde has a proven track record of providing our customers with safe and reliable supply. Additionally, we take pride in our ability to produce industrial gases with reduced carbon intensity, thus contributing to our overall greenhouse gas reduction objective."
