Lhyfe, a global leader in green hydrogen production, has announced a strategic partnership with Elyse Energy, renowned for its expertise in low-carbon molecule production. Together, they plan to advance the production of e-methanol derived from green hydrogen, situated within the industrial and logistics port ecosystem of the Loire Estuary.

The partnership comes on the heels of Lhyfe's successful bid in November 2023 to respond to a call for expression of interest (CEI) launched by the Nantes Saint-Nazaire port authority (Grand Port Maritime de Nantes Saint-Nazaire). This initiative, launched in late 2022, seeks to establish a robust green hydrogen production and distribution facility at the Montoir-de-Bretagne site. The primary objective is to facilitate the transition towards decarbonizing maritime transport, addressing critical environmental challenges with sustainable energy solutions.

Lhyfe, a green hydrogen pioneer, and Elyse Energy, a low-carbon molecule producer, joined forces in a landmark collaboration. They signed an exclusive agreement to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study for an e-methanol production project from green hydrogen within the port of Nantes Saint-Nazaire. This first-of-its-kind partnership for both companies will assess the technical, economic, financial, and regulatory viability of the project.

E-methanol represents a pivotal clean fuel solution essential for decarbonizing maritime transport, a critical challenge in achieving both carbon neutrality and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. The project's success hinges on the conclusions drawn from the feasibility study, securing necessary operating licenses and building permits, and making informed financial investment decisions.

Pending the outcomes of the feasibility study, along with regulatory approvals and financial commitments, the implementation of the e-methanol production project at the Nantes Saint-Nazaire port site will proceed. Lhyfe and Elyse Energy are scheduled to present a detailed overview of the project in September 2024, underscoring their collaborative efforts towards advancing sustainable energy innovation and environmental stewardship on a regional and global scale.

Lhyfe is a leading European entity dedicated to driving energy transition through the production and supply of green and renewable hydrogen. Positioned at the forefront of sustainable energy solutions, Lhyfe operates production sites and oversees a diverse portfolio of projects aimed at facilitating widespread access to industrial-scale green and renewable hydrogen. This initiative supports the development of a sustainable energy paradigm capable of decarbonizing entire industrial sectors and transforming transportation models.

In a milestone achievement, Lhyfe inaugurated the world's first industrial-scale green hydrogen production plant in 2021, distinguished by its integration with a wind farm. This pioneering facility underscores Lhyfe's commitment to leveraging renewable resources for hydrogen production. Building on this success, in 2022, Lhyfe launched the world's first offshore green hydrogen production pilot platform, further demonstrating its leadership in advancing innovative solutions for sustainable energy generation and distribution. These initiatives position Lhyfe at the forefront of the global energy transition, driving impactful changes toward a more sustainable and carbon-neutral future.
