LDPE/EVA Plant in Kazan moves ahead as Kazanorgsintez PJSC granted EP Contract to Tecnimont

Kazanorgsintez PJSC (KOS) has awarded an EP (Engineering and Procurement) contract to German firm Tecnimont Planung & Industrieanlagenbau for the execution of a Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE)/Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA). Tecnimont Planung & Industrieanlagenbau is German subsidiary of Italian Maire Tecnimont.

Kazanorgsintez PJSC (KOS) is one of the largest producers of Polyethylene in the Russian Federation.

The plant which would be constructed inside the KOS facility in Kazan, in the Republic of Tatarstan (Russia). The overall value of the EP contract is around Euro 130 million (USD 152 million). The project includes the construction of a 100 KTPA capacity LDPE/EVA plant. Key purpose behind the project has been expansion of the production capacity for polyolefins. The project is said to have a completion timeline of 40 months from the starting date which is mentioned in the contract.

The engineering portion of the project will be completed by Maire Tecnimont Russia in its Moscow engineering centre where it does research and development apart from the field construction work.

As per ChemAnalyst, “demand of polyethylene is rising in Russia due to the growth in several sectors having application of polyethylene including packaging, automotive etc. The proposed plant is aimed at capturing both the domestic as well as the international demand which is set to rise with the rise in the demand of packaging and other related sectors.”
