KBR has announced that its ammonia technology has been selected by KazAzot for the development of Kazakhstan's first world-scale fertilizer complex. This project, located in Aktau, will feature a state-of-the-art 2,000 metric tons per day ammonia plant. As part of this significant project, KBR will provide a comprehensive range of services, including a technology license, proprietary engineering design, equipment, and catalyst solutions. The ammonia facility aims to meet the food security needs of Kazakhstan and its neighboring countries by enhancing the local fertilizer production capacity, which is crucial for boosting agricultural productivity.

KazAzot’s decision to select KBR’s advanced ammonia technology is a major step forward in addressing the growing demand for fertilizer in the region. The facility will not only contribute to Kazakhstan's food security but also support the broader Central Asian region, ensuring a more self-sufficient and sustainable agricultural sector.
