International Graphite Limited has secured a significant $4.5 million grant from the Western Australian Government to construct the nation's first purpose-built commercial graphite micronising plant in Collie, Australia. This funding will be instrumental in propelling the company's strategic goal of becoming a key player in the global graphite industry.

The $4.5 million grant will be allocated towards the construction of a 3,000 tpa micronising facility, with an estimated capital cost of $4 million for the initial stage. The first stage of the project is expected to be fully funded, ensuring its completion.

The remaining $2.5 million of the grant will be utilized to expand the facility's capacity to approximately 10,000 tpa in the second stage. The Collie Micronising Facility is projected to produce 95% and 99% total graphitic content (TGC) micronised products, derived from graphite concentrates sourced from the company's 100% owned Springdale Graphite Project.

Graphite micronization is the process of grinding natural flake graphite into a fine powder using advanced milling technology. The resulting powder is known as micronized graphite.

Andrew Worland, Managing Director and CEO of International Graphite, expressed enthusiasm about the project's advancement, stating, "We are excited to be pushing ahead with the construction of the new plant at Collie. Establishing a micronising business in Collie has been an important step in our development plans. Critically it will establish the Company as a producer in the graphite industry and build further our technical skills as we progress our Springdale mine to market battery anode material strategy."

The company's decision to construct the facility in two stages leverages the valuable experience gained from its existing Collie Graphite Processing & R&D Facility. This facility has been instrumental in optimizing equipment selection, operating conditions, and scaling production capacity to achieve lower unit capital costs.

As the global demand for high-quality graphite continues to surge, International Graphite's Collie Micronising Facility is poised to become a significant contributor to Australia's burgeoning battery materials industry.
