IMCD N.V., a global leader in the distribution and formulation of specialty chemicals and ingredients, has signed an agreement to acquire the personal care and pharmaceutical business of YCAM Corporation, a distributor based in South Korea. Established in 2010, YCAM has built a strong reputation for distributing specialty ingredients tailored for the cosmetics, personal care, and pharmaceutical markets. The company is known for its strong relationships with leading global suppliers and its dedication to providing customers with expert formulatory advice. YCAM also offers technical and laboratory support, helping its clients stay ahead of market trends and meet the evolving needs of their industries.

YCAM operates from its base in Anyang, South Korea, and has been a significant player in the distribution of specialized ingredients for over a decade. In 2023, YCAM generated a revenue of approximately KRW 26 billion (around EUR 17 million) and employs a team of eight professionals. The company’s commitment to customer service and technical expertise has allowed it to maintain a competitive edge in the fast-paced personal care and pharmaceutical sectors, which continue to see rapid innovation and growth.

The acquisition is part of IMCD’s broader strategy to enhance its footprint in the beauty and personal care market and further diversify its life science portfolio. IMCD views this move as an important step in strengthening its presence in South Korea, a key market in the global cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. With this acquisition, IMCD will integrate YCAM’s specialized knowledge, customer relationships, and technical expertise, which will further enhance IMCD’s ability to serve customers in these sectors.

Dongjoon Lee, Managing Director of IMCD South Korea, expressed his enthusiasm about the acquisition, saying, "This acquisition is an important milestone in expanding our footprint in the beauty and personal care market. YCAM has an exceptional team with vast experience in the personal care and pharmaceutical sectors. We are excited to welcome such a dedicated and skilled group of professionals to IMCD." This acquisition will also help IMCD provide more comprehensive solutions to customers in South Korea and further solidify its leadership position in the global market.

Munkyum Kim, CEO of YCAM, also shared his thoughts on the transaction. He believes the integration of YCAM into IMCD’s global operations will create tremendous value for both companies. "I am convinced that YCAM’s extensive resources and knowledge can quickly integrate into IMCD’s global business model, enhancing its commercial and operational strength in South Korea’s personal care and pharmaceutical industries," Kim said. "My team has been an invaluable asset to the company, and I am confident they will have even more opportunities to develop and maximize their potential with IMCD."

The closing of the transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to occur in the second quarter of 2025. This acquisition marks a significant step in IMCD’s strategy to continue expanding its global presence and offering specialized solutions across a wide range of industries.
