Godrej Agrovet Limited (GAVL), a leading agribusiness company in India, has entered into a strategic partnership with US-based Provivi to produce a pheromone-based pest control solutions for rice and corn farmers. This collaboration aims to address the escalating issue of pest infestations, which significantly impact crop yields and farmer livelihoods.

Under the partnership, GAVL will exclusively distribute Provivi's advanced eco-dispensers. These innovative devices utilize pheromones, natural insect attractants, to disrupt the mating cycle of harmful pests such as the yellow stem borer in rice and the fall armyworm in corn. By disrupting these pests' reproductive behavior, the eco-dispensers effectively reduce their population and protect crops without relying on harmful chemical pesticides.

Climate change has exacerbated pest infestations, posing a serious threat to agricultural productivity. GAVL and Provivi's collaboration aligns with the growing need for sustainable and environmentally friendly pest management solutions. The biodegradable eco-dispensers are expected to be available to Indian farmers by 2029, offering a much-needed alternative to traditional chemical pesticides.

India, as a major producer and exporter of rice and corn, faces significant challenges from pest-related losses. GAVL's extensive distribution network will play a crucial role in delivering Provivi's innovative solutions to millions of farmers across the country. This partnership will help reduce the reliance on harmful pesticides, improve crop yields, and enhance the overall sustainability of Indian agriculture.

Corey Huck, CEO of Provivi, expressed enthusiasm about expanding the company's reach into India, one of the world's fastest-growing agricultural markets. "We are excited to partner with Godrej Agrovet to introduce our sustainable pest control solutions to Indian farmers. This collaboration will help us make a significant impact on the agricultural landscape of India," he said.

While the financial details of the partnership were not disclosed, this collaboration signifies a significant step towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly approach to pest management in India's agribusiness sector. By embracing innovative technologies and prioritizing environmental sustainability, GAVL and Provivi are working together to secure a brighter future for Indian agriculture.
