Globalstar has announced a significant development in partnership with INEOS Oxide, a prominent global provider of petrochemicals. INEOS Oxide has chosen to implement the Ovinto Sat tracking solution to oversee and secure the transportation of highly explosive gases across mainland Europe using rail and road networks.

Over the course of several years, INEOS Oxide has taken a phased approach to the implementation of the Ovinto Sat system. This approach has led to a recent expansion of deployment, encompassing the installation of Ovinto Sat sensors on its entire fleet of tank containers and rail cars, totaling approximately 700 devices to date.

At the core of the Ovinto Sat system lies Globalstar's satellite communication technology, which plays a vital role in enabling INEOS Oxide to precisely monitor the real-time location and status of each tank and rail car as they navigate the continent. This monitoring capability remains uninterrupted even in areas outside the coverage of GSM mobile networks. This consistent and reliable flow of data equips INEOS Oxide and its partners within the supply chain to make swift, well-informed decisions pertaining to each delivery. Additionally, the system can promptly alert stakeholders to any alterations in the environmental conditions of the containers or cars that might impact the shipment.

Patrick De Block, Business Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Manager at INEOS, has expressed high satisfaction with the Ovinto Sat system's performance. He highlights the critical role it plays in ensuring the secure transport of their products, particularly given the volatile nature of the materials involved.

Ovinto Sat distinguishes itself with its ATEX certification and its operational reliability driven by Globalstar's satellite technology, making it an ideal choice for INEOS Oxide. The company transports highly explosive and flammable substances like Ethylene Oxide and Propylene Oxide, which are utilized in industries such as Agrochemicals, Pharmaceuticals & Personal Care, Construction, and more. Ensuring safety during the transportation of these hazardous chemicals is paramount, and Ovinto Sat addresses this challenge by providing precise real-time monitoring of container conditions, thus mitigating the risk of accidents.

De Block emphasizes that knowing the location and temperature of their assets is critical to ensuring safety. Ovinto Sat not only provides this essential information but also assists in optimizing operational systems. The data gathered helps INEOS Oxide predict temperature fluctuations and the need for refrigeration during cross-country shipments.

Frederick Ronse, CEO of Ovinto, underscores their commitment to continually enhancing the solution's engineering to enhance safety, risk reduction, and supply chain decision-making for INEOS Oxide. Globalstar's satellite technology has emerged as a cornerstone of this system due to its reliability, widespread coverage, and efficiency in comparison to GSM technology.

Mark O’Connell, General Manager at Globalstar EMEA & APAC, emphasizes the critical importance of reliable connectivity when dealing with hazardous materials in transportation. As GSM signals can be unreliable across many parts of continental Europe, satellite communication remains the only dependable means of communication in these scenarios. Globalstar is proud to collaborate with Ovinto to support INEOS in maintaining a secure and efficient transportation network.

In conclusion, the implementation of the Ovinto Sat tracking solution powered by Globalstar's satellite technology marks a significant advancement in the domain of hazardous materials transportation. INEOS Oxide's partnership with these companies exemplifies the integration of cutting-edge technology to enhance safety, operational efficiency, and supply chain resilience.
