Global Jet Kerosene market remained volatile during February 2025. The Indian market saw a sharp inclination in the prices during February 2025. Although the price of essential raw material Crude Oil was declining during the same period of time its impact on Jet Kerosene pricing remained limited. This price surge is attributed to fluctuating demand patterns from the key end-user aviation sector, followed by geopolitical tensions. Additionally, the strengthening of US Dollar has increased the cost of Jet Kerosene imports for major consuming regions, adding to upward price pressure. However, the North American market kept fluctuating but mostly remained on a downward side on month-on-month basis.
In the Indian market, the price of Jet Kerosene experienced a potential shift, with the prices moving northwards, aligning with the trend followed during the previous month. At the beginning of the month strong demand from the aviation sector across India was observed. Further, the Kumbh Mela festivities within the Indian region drove the demand from the aviation sector initially. However, as the festivities neared their end the demand cooled down. As per the Petroleum Planning & Analysis Cell the ATF consumption increased by 3.7% on Year – on -year basis but reported, a decline was reported on the month-on-month basis. This decline reflects India’s strategic shift from Jet Kerosene to a more sustainable fuel. The India SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) Alliance launched on 4th of February 2025 at the India Climate Week (ICW) 2025, initiated by CMAI aims to focus on the adoption of sustainable aviation fuels across the country and to foster joint efforts towards achieving India’s climate goals.
On the other hand, the North American Jet Kerosene market reported fluctuating price trend. According to EIA the prices experienced a slight inclination at the start of the month, however, they moved downwards later. The initial surge in prices was driven by the increase in demand for air travel following the Super Bowl League in February. This increase in the aviation activity led to a temporary spike in Jet Kerosene consumption. However, as the month approached its end demand tapered off. Further, continuous efforts by the government to shift towards sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) have also contributed to the eased demand for Jet Kerosene to a certain level. On the supply side, the traders were well supplied with Jet Kerosene owing to their proactive approach to restock Jet Kerosene, in anticipation of demand ensuring sufficient availability throughout the month.
As per ChemAnalyst, the prices of Jet Kerosene are expected to decline in the forthcoming months. The key factor behind this decline is the growing emphasis on sustainability within the aviation sector.
