Genius Metals, a Canadian mineral exploration firm, has signed an option agreement to gain full ownership of the Tifernine Copper Project in Morocco. This acquisition aligns with the company’s strategy to expand its portfolio in Morocco, which already includes the Tifernine and BMR projects, while continuing its exploration activities in North America. According to the agreement, Genius Metals will make cash payments amounting to C$250,000 (approximately $181,298) and undertake C$225,000 in exploration activities over the next three years. During the option period, Genius Metals will oversee the Tifernine Copper Project and has the option to expedite the acquisition by fulfilling the payment and exploration commitments ahead of schedule.

The Tifernine Copper Project covers about 16 square kilometers and is situated southeast of Ouarzazate, Morocco, only 10 kilometers from Genius Metals’ BMR property, for which the company also has an option for full ownership. The Tifernine site contains an Ediacaran rhyolitic and andesitic complex, crossed by ENE-WSW faults. Several sub-vertical structures have been identified within the area, extending up to 1 kilometer in length and up to 2 meters in width. These structures exhibit localized brecciation and contain quartz-carbonate veins, with copper mineralization present in both the veins and surrounding volcanic rocks, indicating strong potential for resource development.

Pierre-Olivier Goulet, Vice President of Corporate Development at Genius Metals, expressed excitement about the recent acquisition, highlighting its close proximity to the BMR property. He mentioned that preliminary surface sample assay results have shown strong copper mineralization, indicating significant exploration potential in the area. Genius Metals plans to initiate follow-up exploration programs in 2025 to further assess the project's capabilities.

In addition to its endeavors in Morocco, Genius Metals is also expanding its portfolio in North America. In June 2023, the company secured an agreement to acquire full ownership of the Paka lithium property in James Bay, Québec. This move underscores its commitment to strategic growth and exploration, positioning Genius Metals as a competitor in both the copper and lithium markets. As the company progresses with its projects, it aims to unlock value and identify new resources in these vital regions.

Genius Metals is focused on acquiring, exploring, and potentially developing promising natural resource properties, primarily in Canada and Morocco. The company is dedicated to comprehensive exploration and assessment to fully realize the potential of its mineral assets. By employing advanced exploration techniques and leveraging geological expertise, Genius Metals seeks to uncover significant deposits that can contribute to the global resource supply, positioning itself as an essential player in the mineral industry as it navigates the complexities of resource development.
