Expro, a leading global energy services provider, has secured contracts worth over $10 million from OMV Petrom to support the Neptun Deep gas project in the Romanian Black Sea. These contracts signify a major step in Expro’s expansion in Romania, reinforcing its commitment to the country’s energy sector while contributing to Romania’s energy security.

As part of the agreements, Expro will deliver subsea landing string (SSLS) technology, SeaCure® cementing solutions, tubular running services (TRS), and Coretrax Advance drilling tools to enhance offshore drilling operations. Neptun Deep is Romania’s largest natural gas project and is essential for reducing the country’s dependence on imported gas, ensuring a reliable domestic energy supply.

Strategic Expansion and Investment in Romania

The latest contract wins underscore Expro’s commitment to strengthening its presence in Romania and Eastern Europe. To support its growing operations, the company has made significant investments, including establishing a new office in Bucharest, a dedicated operational base, and a workforce development initiative to expand its Romanian-based team.

Andrei Ion, Senior Area Manager for Expro in Europe Mediterranean and Caspian, highlighted the importance of these contracts:

"With these contract awards, Expro continues its strategic growth in Eastern Europe, reinforcing our expertise in delivering innovative and efficient energy solutions. The Neptun Deep project is a critical initiative for Romania’s energy future, and we are honored to be a key partner in its development."

The Role of Neptun Deep in Romania’s Energy Future

Located in the deep waters of the Romanian Black Sea, Neptun Deep represents one of the most significant offshore energy projects in Southeastern Europe. Operated by OMV Petrom in partnership with Romgaz, the project is expected to contribute substantially to Romania’s domestic natural gas production, reducing reliance on imports and enhancing energy security.

Expro’s advanced subsea and well construction technologies will play a crucial role in ensuring the project’s success by optimizing efficiency, improving safety standards, and maximizing hydrocarbon recovery. The company’s expertise in deepwater exploration and production solutions makes it an ideal partner for such a large-scale development.

Expro’s Global Expertise in Energy Services

With a history dating back to 1938, Expro has grown into a leading provider of well construction, well flow management, subsea well access, and well intervention and integrity solutions. The company employs over 8,000 professionals and operates in approximately 60 countries, supporting both onshore and offshore exploration and production activities.

By securing these strategic contracts, Expro is strengthening its foothold in Romania’s offshore energy sector, positioning itself as a key technology and service provider for one of the region’s most critical energy projects. Through continued investment and innovation, Expro is set to play a pivotal role in Romania’s long-term energy landscape while expanding its influence in Eastern Europe’s oil and gas sector.
