The recent renewal of the industrial gas supply agreement between Air Liquide, headquartered in Paris, and Dow, based in Midland, Michigan, marks a significant milestone in Stade, one of Lower Saxony, Germany's largest chemical production sites. Under this renewed agreement, Air Liquide pledges to provide industrial gases over the long term while committing to invest approximately 40 million euros in the modernization of its assets. This investment is aimed at bolstering operational efficiency and curtailing CO2 emissions.

Within the framework of this agreement, Air Liquide will undertake the modernization of its existing production assets, which include two Air Separation Units (ASU) and one Partial Oxidation plant (POX). Additionally, a novel CO2 recycling solution will be seamlessly integrated into the infrastructure. This innovative approach is envisioned to facilitate the circular utilization of the CO2 produced, leading to an estimated 15% enhancement in energy efficiency and a reduction of around 15,000 tonnes per year in emissions. Remarkably, this reduction accounts for 80% of the direct CO2 emissions from the Air Liquide site. The slated completion for the modernization of these assets is the year 2024.

For over two decades, Air Liquide has steadfastly served as a provider of industrial gases to Dow in Stade, Germany. Recognizing the pressing need to address climate concerns, the ongoing industrial transformation mandates not only the initiation of pioneering greenfield projects but also the incremental modification and modernization of existing plants. Consequently, as part of the long-term renewal of the supply agreement with Dow, Air Liquide has committed to investing nearly 40 million euros in the modernization of its assets in Stade.

The solution being implemented entails the application of CO2 recycling to an existing production facility. This groundbreaking approach facilitates simultaneous enhancements in energy efficiency and reductions in CO2 emissions. This strategic investment seamlessly aligns with Air Liquide's ADVANCE strategic plan, which encompasses the ambitious objective of reducing the Group's carbon emissions by one-third by the year 2035.

In essence, the renewed industrial gas supply agreement between Air Liquide and Dow in Stade, Germany, underscores a shared commitment to sustainable practices and operational excellence. Through investments in the modernization of its assets and the adoption of innovative CO2 recycling solutions, Air Liquide not only elevates its operational efficiency but also contributes to the global imperative of combating climate change. This partnership exemplifies the collaborative endeavors essential for driving meaningful progress towards a more sustainable
