DAI Infrastruktur GmbH, headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany, has entered into a significant strategic partnership with Siemens Energy, formalizing their collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This strategic alliance is centered around the joint venture of the Ra Green Ammonia project, situated in East Port Said, Egypt. Siemens Energy's pivotal role in this partnership includes providing essential components such as electrolyzers, auxiliary plant systems, and crucial equipment for the hydrogen island within the Ra project.

The Ra Green Ammonia project is an intricately designed initiative with an ambitious annual production capacity of 2 million tonnes of green ammonia. Notably, it aims to generate 1.65 million tonnes exclusively from renewable energy sources. The scheduled commencement of production is set for the year 2028. DAI Infrastruktur is steadfast in its dedication to positioning East Port Said as a key green ammonia hub in the East Mediterranean. The strategic location of the plant, strategically affording convenient access to the sea, is poised to play a pivotal role in fortifying the maritime industry by streamlining vessel bunkering services and facilitating the efficient transport of green ammonia to European off takers.

Ioannis Papassavvas from DAI emphasized the strategic intent to predominantly supply the bulk of the produced green ammonia to German and European off takers, placing a specific emphasis on the maritime sector as a sustainable fuel source. The plant's strategic proximity to the Suez Canal and its location within the East Port Said harbor ensure efficient bunkering services for vessels powered by green ammonia.

The IEA's Net Zero Roadmap envisions ammonia emerging as the foremost alternative fuel in the shipping sector by the year 2050, which constitutes a significant 44% of final energy consumption. In alignment with global initiatives geared towards transitioning to sustainable and clean energy sources, the Ra Green Ammonia project actively contributes to the overarching goal of curbing carbon emissions within the maritime industry.

The collaborative synergy between DAI and Siemens Energy is undoubtedly a monumental leap forward in the realm of advancing green hydrogen production and advocating for the widespread utilization of green ammonia within the shipping sector. This concerted effort seamlessly aligns with broader objectives dedicated to ushering in a carbon-neutral future. The Ra Green Ammonia project stands as a testament to the collective commitment towards sustainable practices and the imperative shift towards cleaner energy alternatives in the pursuit of a greener and more environmentally conscious future.
